What a weekend!

We had plans to go to Louisville this weekend to make a big announcement but that has been delayed a week, I promise a big post explaining as soon as we have told the people who need to know first--and NO, I'm not preggers!

Because we didn't go to Louisville, we had a fun weekend in GA. Last night my friends Laney & Tracy came over and we played apples to apples while izzy, jersey, and sophie (laneys dog) played. Dog parties are so much fun! Jersey even played tug of war with Sophie!

Today Adam and I watched 800 episodes of pawn kings then we went to a bike ride to TCBY (YUMMY!) then we took izzy and jersey to the dog park. It was such a beautiful day! Now I'm getting ready to give the pups a bath and try to trim their nails. Wish me luck!!!!

Blizzard Blog Hop 2011

The Blizzard blog hop is apparently a meet and greet for bloggers who cannot/are not going to a blogging conference called Blissdom.  I have no clue what this blissdom is but it sounds beautiful to me so I think I should probably go find out eventually :)

My blog/twitter friend Ann  Marie @ Household Diva 6 came up with the idea and is hosting the blog hop so get over there and write your own introduction to the blogging world! :)

If you want to know some more about me you can always check out my ABOUT post, or my About Me post. If you want to find out how I got introduced to this crazy blogging world there is always my First Post which is all about my husband wanting to join the Navy, something he decided not to do because of me moving for my job and us being apart and all sorts of other personal nonsense which eventually led to him not joining as planned.  However as my mother has always said we make plans and God laughs...and that is where we currently are.

So brief overview--
Hi I'm Shanon

I work for a non-profit foundation that provides money for programming and scholarships to a sorority.

I love my husband dearly.
I'm not good at keeping my identity secret so I quit trying.

My twitter name is @shanonrenee
I have two beautiful puppies who are spoiled rotten.

My worst habit is biting my nails

I can put together a reasonable budget like no ones business, just don't expect me to follow it

The main reason I can't follow a budget is because if I save $5 on groceries I think that means I can spend $5 on my nails :)

I'm slowly learning what it means to be an adult and am currently going through some growing pains that will be revealed over the next couple of months so if you like suspense this may be the perfect blog for you

I'm much better at keeping up with/updating twitter than I am at updating my blog

I live my life in 140 character time spans :)

I just completed my application for an MBA program!

I have some amazing friends

I've met two Blog/twitter friends IRL (THIS IS A LINK!)

And this is my life! :)

I know I know

I still need to do days 16-21 of the organization challenge and I swear I will--eventually, but not today because I'm an adult and the great thing about being an adult is you don't have to do anything!

In other news having my husband home all day every day is driving me crazy. I have gotten exactly 0 time to myself and nothing done. I just had to lay down the law to start our tax return. And I'm. Not sure when I'll get the checkbook balanced! Does anyone else ever just want their SO to GO AWAY for an hour or so????

Getting Organized Challenge Days 13-16

It's still not too late to take the challenge!  Just a friendly reminder :)

My medicine cabinet/under the bathroom sink/medicine storage are all pretty much the same spot...at least for organizational purposes so I did them all together, over the course of 2 days :)

Just a reminder--Here are my before pictures

Under my sink

My vanity/counter

This is only so clean because most of the stuff that belongs in it is on the counter...

And during:
Empty cabinet!
After:
My nice clean counter.

my first aide storage

under the sink

So Yay ME!  Day 16 is your fridge--I'm not allowed to touch our fridge right now while Adam is in charge of dinner/losing weight but it isn't tooo bad considering how full it is.  :(

Day 17 is the mail I will do it tomorrow as well as the day 18 challenge (yay for only being one day behind!)

XOXO

My husband has stolen my computer...

I've been given "15 minutes" to pay bills...Not sure what he wants to do that is SOOOOO important but not worth the fight...a second laptop is on my list of things to buy as soon as we are out of debt...GRRRR

I am still doing my organization challenges and promise a post with pictures tomorrow PM.

21 day organization challenge--life happens

Today's challenge was to organize your laundry room--I did get that done today. Adam and I also cleaned our guest room that was still overflowing with boxes and somehow managed to get him set up with some semblance of a closet. We now have 3 more bags of crap for goodwill and a Rubbermaid tote. Unfortunately no pics/real update tonight because he has been camped out on my computer for roughly 3 hours typing his resignation letter. Some crazy/shady stuff has happened this week while he has been off of work so we sat down/crunched some numbers and decided that while it is going to be super tight an will slow down our debt payoff plan it would be better for us if he no longer worked for his current employer. Sooo tomorrow he will be resigning effective immediately. Here is hoping that 3 things happen (really any 2 of he three but all three would be awesome!). 1-that my bug sells for what we are asking fast! (would buy us roughly 6 months without needing his income all) 2-that he finds a job/gets the one he is currently working towards ASAP and 3- our income tax refund is hella-big (not expecting very much at all)

So cross your fingers for us/send us good juju/pray hard. This was a very hard decision but I know it was the right one for us. I know God has amazing plans for my husband I just hope we find out what they are before I have a heart attack from the stress.

Hugs!
Shanon Renee

21 Days to Organized, Day #9

Today's challenge was your kid's toys.  I don't have kids but I do have puppy dogs, and a husband!  So I decided to "organize" the dog toys, our board games, Video Games, DVD's and my cookbooks (only because the cookbooks and DVDs are in the same corner)

Before Pictures:
Looks fine but completely unorganized

These books don't all fit...

Dog clothes do not go in the basket with the dog toys...
During:
Oh thats what that bookshelf looks like!

These are going to ebay! (the dog toys are now in their basket!)

These are now alphabetized on our bookshelf!
After:
Board games under TV stand, Dog toys and treats neatly in basket (for now)

DVD's, Video Games and CD's Alphabetized

Bookshelf of Cookbooks organized according to size and how often I use it.  Cooking related magazines organized by edition and title!

Two Valentines Day Swaps!!!

I love swaps, maybe I'm a nerd but I love buying people presents and I love getting mail that isn't junk mail :)

Swap number 2--LivKit @ Simply Sunshine and Daisys

Getting Organized Challenge Days 6-8

Don't forget to check out A Bowl Full Of Lemons!

Day 6--Organize your dresser drawers
I did this when I went on my cleaning spree the week between Christmas and New Years, but I am currently doing laundry so I am challenging myself to get the laundry put up as soon as it is done.  Sorry no pictures!  We did take 3 bags of clothes to Goodwill on Saturday though!

Day 7--Organize the Pantry
Our apartment has exactly zero storage space.  Our "pantry" consist of three of the kitchen cabinets, our counter and the floor.  Here are some pictures--My goal was to get all of our food off the counter & kitchen floor, it almost worked!
Before:

During:

I think we have too much food!!!

Way too much food....
After:

Almost all of the food made it, I think two boxes of cereal and a basket of snacks is ok on the counter right???

Day 8--Organize the coat closet
I did this before New Years when I took down the Christmas Decorations, why?? Because it is the only storage space we have for our Christmas and Halloween Decorations!  Here is an after picture though :)

Yes we also store the dog food and dog toys in this closet, and yes I do still own a pair of roller skates and Adam bought the bowling ball at goodwill for $.75 shortly after we got married, according to a guy at the bowling lanes it is actually a really good ball.  and the TV trays are what we normally use to eat on because previously we could never find the kitchen table :)

And now I am caught up!   See you tomorrow :)

PCS Updates

Wow I can't believe it's been almost 3 months! SO much has happened and I honestly feel like I've barely had a chance to breath...
