Migraines suck...

So I'm braking the cardinal rule of having a migraine--looking at my phone screen and watching tv. It has been roughly 27 hours since this stupid migraine hit and I'm going nutso--excedrine has worked on the throbbing but I'm still nauseous and slightly dizzy. My head still hurts and the lights aren't bothering me as long as they aren't super bright. My skin hurts--is that normal? I've never had a migraine last more than a couple of hours and I must admit this SUCKS. I'm debating calling my boss and telling her I'm not setting an alarm in the am. I've been trying to drink plenty of H2O and Orange Juice since that's what most websites recommend but constantly having to get up to pee has been a real pain the the butt. I've taken 2 naps today, given the puppies baths by candlelight, made/froze the pioneer Womans cinnamon rolls and washed Adams work clothes am our sheets :). Adam gets to make the bed I'm tapped out--but I'm really bored!!

I want to host something...

All of these awesome bloggers are having swaps and such...I want to be cool too! SOOOOOOO I'm going to host a New Years Resolution accountability swap. I'll pair anyone who wants to participate up somehow and this time next year there will be prizes for people who keep their resolutions. I'm still working on the details but I think I'll limit everyone to 2 resolutions tops. The prizes will probably be something silly but fun like toys from the dollar store :) does anyone think they would be interested? Comment and let me know so I don't waste my time developing something and have no one participate...I'll get details worked out and an actual entry form set up by Dec 15

Kthxbye!

Thanksgiving

I thought I probably need to post about our amazing Thanksgiving dinner so I figure what better time than the present-the present being me sitting in the car waiting to leave for church because I had to bring Adam to work first and it's to late to go home but too early to head to church :)
Unfortunately I can't upload photos of our feast from the blogger app I have on my iPhone but if you follow me on twitter/are my friend on facebook then you probably saw the feast (ps my twitter username is @shanonrenee if you want to follow me, I'm a much better Tweep than blogger!) for those of you who haven't seen the picture use your imagination. And remember this was a meal for two!
A whole chicken rotisserie style courtesy of our amazing toaster oven.
Squash Casserole (I made way to much and it wasn't the recipe I wanted but Adam loved it so at least the leftovers are being eaten)
Regular dressing
Oyster dressing
Beets
Cranberry sauce
Glazed baby carrots
Asiago mashed potatoes (Amazing! Using the leftovers to make potato pancakes tonight!)
Noodles
Gravy
Corn casserole
Green beans
Sister Schubert's rolls
Pecan pie (The Pioneer Woman's recipe an the best Adams ever had!) with The Pioneer Woman's whiskey maple cream sauce (yummy!)
Pumpkin chiffon pie with rediwhip. I was going to make whipped cream, I LOVE homemade whipped cream but walmart was out of whipping cream and I forgot to get it at Kroger when I did my big shopping. At least rediwhip tastes good :)

Now off to church. Bye all!

Why are we afraid of the dark?

Watching a history channel documentary on why we are afraid of the dark...not sure I'll sleep very well tonight :)

In unrelated news, I was sick of turkey and really wanted Mexican so we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner and ate too many chips. I think I'm more stuffed than I was on Thanksgiving. :)

Yummy food and such!

Today I an attempting to make the Pioneer Womans cheddar bacon onion biscuits and cinnamon rolls. I'm going to freeze both and make a few thanksgiving morning but the bulk will be for our trip to Gatlinburg in December with some great friends. I'll post pics and links to her recipe later when I'm not blogging from my phone. :). I'm also cleaning the apartment. My goal is to have it spotless for thanksgiving so we can get the Christmas decorations up. I'm making a final Kroger run tonight so I need to fund out if my BFF Melissa is coming to GA for turkey day :) she drinks milk...lots of milk...I throw away milk so I never buy it so I need to know if I should invest in a gallon of milk for the weekend--I hope the answer is yes :).

When do you decorate for Christmas?

I am a horrible blogger

Please forgive me...

So I have been absolutely slammed at work but wanted to take a second to give everyone an update on my life :)  I know not everyone who follows my blog is on Twitter so you may have missed out on a huge scare!

Adam totaled his car last week :(  on Friday (Oct. 29) I was getting ready to get in the shower when my cell phone rang, he had just left for work and it was him so I thought maybe he had forgotten something and needed me to run to his store before I went to work.  I answer the phone and he says "don't get mad at me."  I think ok he bought breakfast at McD's or something, nope he totaled his car...and he "caused" the wreck.  He sneezed and didn't see the kid in front of him slam on his breaks so he hit the kid, who hit the car in front of him, who scratched the bumper of the car in front of her, so yep technically a 4 car pile-up (I am dreading seeing how much our insurance goes up!)

Luckily the only person injured at all was Adam and he is just a little banged up.  His neck still hurts a little big and he has a huge bruise on his shoulder from the seat belt but other than that he is back to normal. And since we had full coverage insurance we got some money from the insurance company--thank God!

Thursday (11/4) I took our new dog Jersey to the vet to be fixed.  I drove my Bug in the freezing cold rain over an hour since Adam had totaled the Callibur :(  it was not pleasant but not a huge deal.  Then Friday morning I went picked Jersey up, stopped at the State Farm claims office closest to were we live (YAY it was just 15 miles from the vet that was an hour away! Two birds, one stone) then after I picked up our almost $10K check (for the record he only paid 11K for the car, I think they gave us a fair valuation) I headed to the auto salvage yard to empty out the totaled car.  On the way to the junk yard the Bug died...just died, no reason...SOOOO I called a two truck, the Bug is now in the shop and I had to call enterprise and get a rental car for the weekend.  (for the record Chevy Aveo's are complete POS's.)

Saturday I went and scoped out cars then after finding a Dodge/Jeep/Etc. lot with a salesman I liked (and after visiting a Chevy lot with a great salesman but horrible sales manager who pissed me off so I left after starting my financing application) I picked up Adam at work and we bought a 2010 Dodge Charger with less than 30K miles (the reason I have no problem stating online how much $ the insurance company gave us is because it is not in the possession of Dodge!)  and we got the car for about 6K less than 2010 used Chargers are going for in this area because we had such a huge down payment.  It was glorious.

THEN we went back to Adam's work and his boss called and he had to go to a meeting on the other side of Atlanta on Monday morning...SO we decided to keep the rental car a few extra days...needless to say it was a hectic week for us with cars! Now I'm waiting to hear from the mechanic about the bug.  I'm hoping its just something silly like a dead alternator (FYI I know that it isn't a dead alternator)  I'll post pics of the new pretty car later!

Thanks for not giving up on me even tho I'm a horrible blogger :)

Tomorrow is a sad day...

I was doing a very good job of avoiding all of the 9/11 stuff in the news.  Last year I cracked every time I heard the date so I knew I needed to be careful.  (for those of you who don't know my Dad died on 9/1/2008)  I just drove past a fire house with a yard full of flags much like this picture:

What a beautiful site--But I amost hypervenelated in the car...Because I know why those flags are there, and I know that that means tomorrow will mark 2 years since my dad was alive, today marks 2 years since I talked to him.  Needless to say the past hour at work has been worthless, thus the blogging from the office--something I never do!  I really want to go home but my boss is out super sick and the only other person in our office had to take her some papers so she could work from home so I'm here by myself holding down the fort.
Oh well, our Audit is next week so I have a TON of work to get done.  Hopefully I'll be able to get to it and get out of here and not have to come in tomorrow or Sunday!

Smile of the day

I love the feel of sunshine on my face. I'm getting ready to walk out of the office and it just popped out from behind the clouds--exactly what I need after today.

What's something that makes you smile uncontrollably???

Yay for cable!

I am so glad that we got cable installed before I spent the weekend dying on the couch without it I would have gone insane!

That being said why am I paying for 200 channels when I watch the same 40 (well not even all 40) channels that my parents had on their basic cable package when I was in High School????

I am addicted to Charmed! I am so glad that the reruns are still on all the time!

What show are you addicted to the reruns from??

Sick and tired of being sick and tired!!

Well Labor Day weekend was a much needed break, unfortunately I was sick all weekend, and still am :/P yuck!  I am having some massive sinus-allergy issues going on.  Saturday my throat was swollen and so sore I barely even moved off of the couch.  Sunday I got up and went to church but came home completely wiped and didn't leave the couch for the rest of the day except to do minor chores.  Yesterday I tried to make myself do something so while Adam was at work (he went in to do inventory) so I went shopping :)  I spent about 1 1/2 hour at Ross, TJ Max, etc. and successfully found 1 shirt for work! :0  then I went back to pick Adam up at work and was already wore out.  We went to McD's and took advantage of the 50 chicken nugget meal then went to Kroger and got some groceries.  We bought a whole chicken which I currently have rotisserieing in our rotisserie/toaster oven :)  This is my first attempt at using the rotisserie so we'll see how it goes wish me luck!  I've been exhausted and cold-y all day today but did make it through work.  Now I'm going to take a nap while the chicken cooks before Adam gets home.
How was your weekend??

An Award!!!!!!!

My blogger BFF and real life friend Bethany @ A Southern Belle & Her Officer gave me this super awesome award which was created by the super awesome Hellcat Betty so go check them both out!

sassy |ˈsasē|
adjective ( -sier , -siest ) informal
lively, bold, and full of spirit; cheeky

I LOVE this award it is awesome and amazing and super fun and isn't the icon just too cute!!!

The rules are:
1) Thank the person who gave you the award: Thank you so much Miss Bethany!  I love the award and you are tooo sweet!  We have to stay in touch after you move to OK!
2) Pass it on to at least 3 other sassy ladies
3) Post 3 sassy things about yourself that your readers may not already know

3 Sassy Things About Me You May Not Already Know:
1-I tend to lack the delay between my brain and my mouth.  Sometimes I will say things that aren't necessarily the nicest (ie you look fat in that dress!) but I always mean well!  I'm the one who will tell you if there is toilet paper hanging from the back of your shoe or your skirt is tucked in your undies!
2-I am going crazy not living in a house right now.  Not because of the neighbors or noise, but because I need a space to imagine what I can do to decorate it, even tho I'm a horrible decorator!
3-I have a black thumb, I've killed bamboo, do you know how hard it is to kill bamboo???  But I love to plant things and play in the dirt every year I plant a bunch of flowers and vegetables and herbs and every year most of them die but I'm always proud of the 2 or 3 that make it.

3 Sassy Ladies-It is so hard not to duplicate!
1-I don't know if they will accept it but my mom's cousin has a daughter Kimmie.  Kimmie is a great young lady who has had quite a battle throughout her life.  Her parents blog about it at Kimmie Stories and I LOVE reading about Kimmies hugs.  She is a wonderful girl and her hugs really are the best but she is super sassy!  Go say hi at http://kimmiestories.blogspot.com/
2- Allison @ Mom is Tired She is great!  I love talking to her on twitter and hearing about all of her kids especially Chicky!  Not only that but between her addiction to coffee and crazy trips across the country Allison is totally Sassy!!!!  Go check out her blog!
3-Wifey @ Wife of a Sailor she has also become a great friend via Twitter.  She is amazing and strong and I love her!

SO go check out these wonderful ladies!

What a wonderful weekend!

I still am going to hold on to my idea for a blog because I actually have some real life to blog about!

This weekend was a blast.  I went to Augusta and met up with two of my blog/twitter friends @armywifebethany at A Southern Belle and Her Officer and @sepsi at And You Never Did Think and we had an absolute blast!   Sepsi's dogs Shecky and Bones are hillarious.  We went to eat at a wonderful BBQ/Wing place then went and got our nails did.  My toes are now colts blue, Sepsi's are Russian Navy (a very appropriate name for a color!) and Bethany's toes are now a super bright red (Brazil something).

Check out our awesome pictures!  I'll upload more from my phone later but I have to get this posted and get to the Gym before Army Wives season finale!

Stuffed Bell Peppers and Stuffed Tomatoes

Tonight for dinner I thought I would use up some bell peppers my sister in law gave me from her garden before they went bed.  I called my mom this morning and asked her for her recipe from when I was younger.  She informed me that she had never used a recipe she just made meatloaf and stuffed it in the peppers then baked them...fat lot of help that was!  So I looked up some recipes online to get ideas and here is what I came up with :)  (Scroll to bottom for full recipe without pictures)

I'm going to start with the tomatoes because I used the same stuffing for both but I left the meat out of the tomatoes, on and I didn't really measure anything...oops!

1 can of corn
1 small can of tomato sauce
1 cup instant rice (uncooked!)
2 Banana Peppers--Diced Small
2 TBS minced garlic
1/2 onion diced small
Tomatoes--for stuffing
Bell Peppers-enough to stuff plus 1 or 2 diced small
1-2 lbs ground meat (I used Turkey)
Parmesean Cheese
Any shredded cheese (I used colby jack but mozzarella would be awesome!)

Preheat oven to 450ish

Start with your peppers and tomatoes in a baking dish with sides high enough to catch any liquid that might overflow from the peppers and tomatoes, I used my super cute green one that Charlotte from my moms church gave me as a wedding present.

Core and seed your peppers and tomatoes. Then place them in the baking dish (if you are doing a whole lot I would recommend putting the tomatoes and peppers in sepearte dishes.  The tomatoes really take a little less time to cook so mine ended up good but if I had made more than two they wouldn't have reheated very well.

Put your instant rice in a microwave save bowl (I used the green mixing bowl that matches my pan because they make me happy) :)

Add 1 cup of liquid to the rice, (I used the juice from my canned corn then made up the difference with water) then cook for 5 minutes (even if the box says 6, trust me you don't want soggy rice!)

Remove rice from microwave and fluff up with a spoon then add your corn

1/2 the can of tomato sauce (1/2 cup)

1 Tablespoon (ish...ok maybe 3 tablespoons) of garlic (that is totally my version of 1 tablespoon of garlic.  If you are one of those crazy people who don't like it use less or leave it out. You probably don't want to use much more though because it might overpower the other flavors)

Add 2 diced banana peppers (or japaleno's or any other spicy pepper if you would like, you can also leave these out but I had them so I used them!) 1-2 diced bell peppers (any color) and 1/2 diced onion

Mix everything up really well

Add 1-2 hand-fulls of Parmesan cheese and 1-2 hand-fulls of shredded cheese of your choice

I "accidentally" put some cheese in the bottoms of my peppers and tomatoes too!

I made my tomatoes vegetarian style so I mixed everything up really well and stuffed the tomatoes at this point :)

Add your meat I used ground turkey but you could use any ground meat try to stick with fairly lean meat though since we are not pre-cooking it for this recipe.

Mix everything up really well again

Stuff the peppers

Top everything with more cheese (the Parmesan gives it a nice crust on top and the melty cheese is just delicious)

Cover in tinfoil and bake until internal temperature is fully cooked for the type of meat you are using (polultry 170-180, beef could go as low as 140-150) These took about 1 hour at 450 ish (my apartment oven is a little off)

If you want to be super awesome when they are almost done take off the tinfoil, add more shredded cheese and let it cook uncovered so you get this yummy bubbly crust on top!

Let cool a little while before eating or you will burn your mouth.

I used about 1/2 of my filling so I added the tomato sauce to the rest of it and mixed it up then put it in a freezer bag to use later to either make more stuffed peppers or to use as a base for stuffed pepper soup I'm not sure which.

Enjoy!

Add 1 cup of liquid to the rice, (I used the juice from my canned corn then made up the difference with water) then cook for 5 minutes (even if the box says 6, trust me you don't want soggy rice!)

So, Phoenix...

Phoenix was a blast! It was a lot of hard work and I didn't get NEARLY enough sleep but it was a ton of fun. I met a lot of really neat ladies who are Phi Mus and we had some amazing speakers.  The Fraternity had Debbie Phelps come and speak (Shes a Phi Mu and her daughters were initiated at convention!) at one of the luncheons and she seemed really nice but I didn't get to meet her.  Foundation had three really neat guests, all Phi Mu's as well.

Cheri Griffin AKA Victoria Alexander-who writes historical romance novels-Was hillarious.  she was probably one of the nicest people ever.   She was very gracious and her talk about "Why fiction is almost always better than real life" was great.  I normally don't read romance novels but I have started "The Virgins Secret" which is her least favorite of her novels and am enjoying it so far.

Janet Woznaik (sp?) the wife of apple co-founder & DWTS star.  Was a very smart lady and was very nice.  Her talk during our business session was kind of an overview about enjoying your life.  She started out as a teacher and now works for Apple teaching people about technology.  She actually met her husband on a cruise because she was there to train Apple-geeks on a new software.  They seem to really love life and do a lot of great things for those less fortunate.  "To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand"  I was already addicted to my iPhone and I really want a mac but now I know that my next computer will be a mac because if the wife of the co-founder has the attitude that Janet does I know that he must as well and those are the kinds of people who I want to support even if they are already richer than I will ever be :)

Tammy Gentry-Have you ever seen those little conversation stones they sell at Christian book stores etc.  Well, Tammy stole the idea from a friend and started "Penny Stones".  In her defense she gave her friend the chance to join her and the friend said no thanks so Tammy started the business on her own.  She is an amazing woman and was SOOOO nice!   She developed a special Phi Mu edition so that chapters could use them to build better conversation skills for the real world, interviews, business settings, and yes, recruitment too :)  What an amazing idea!

We stayed at the Biltmore Resort in Phoenix and it was very nice.  Our beds were sooo comfortable!  We discovered a mexican resturant that was even better than the one Adam and I frequented on our honeymoon in San Antonio.  The pools were nice, one of them even had a waterslide!

All in all I had a blast and I think I have FINALLY recovered from the lack of sleep!

Hope everyone who reads this (all 20 or so of you!) are doing well.  What have you been up to?

Well crap...

I had a long post typed then got a text message and my phone didn't save it when I responded :( here are the highlights details tomorrow because it's bedtime...
July 4th went to Louisville, huge fireworks show, drank Boones Farm from a bottle like a white trash high school kid, tried yuengling (sp?) beer and liked it.

Week of July 17 Worked Phi Mu National Convention in Phoenix. It was exhausting but a total blast. Missed Adam and izzy like crazy may have gotten a bit bitchy by the end because of it.

July 23 turned a quarter of a century old had DQ ice cream cake it was yummy. Adam just bought me princess edition silly bands as a birthday present because I did in fact turn 7 not 25. We are going to Bed Bath and Beyond tomorrow because we both have the day off to pick out my creme brûlée torch which I am super stoked about :)

Currently-Adam just downloaded an app to his iPhone where you type in words and the phone reads them out loud so a robot just told me I'm hot and asked "wanna do it" he is having way too much fun with that thing. He just asked permission to make the bed via robot voice I may have to restrict it's usage.

Night all that's the highlights :)

I am a horrible blogger

I promise to get back in the habbit soon...really...I swear...

Today I am a quarter of a century old...Happy Birthday to me!  I'm looking forward to my DQ icecream cake tonight :)  Hopefully my gift to myself will be ready so Adam and I can go to Louisville this weekend and get the bug :)  I promise to give a real update of the crazy month I have had tomorrow while Adam is at work.

Hugs and Kisses!

Fathers Day

I thought while I am waiting on my work computer to finish searching for a file I would post about fathers day. I'm dpi g this via Iphone though so bare with me!
This was my second fathers day without my daddy. And while I miss home every day it was actually a great day with no even minor brakedowns!
Adam and I went to lunch at a Mexican resturant Yummy! Then we went to the library so he could get a couple of books on CD for the drive to louisille.
He still hasn't had any luck on the job front--well he hopefully will find out today he has a job waiting tables but they can't train him for 2 weeks--and I don't make enough to pay all of our bills since we still have a mortgage in Louisville plus rent down here so he is going back to Lville for a week or two to do some work foe his brother in law. :(.
Anyway back to yesterday. After the library we drove to a nearby town that has a lot of history and I found exactly 6 dream homes all of which I'm fairly certian count as historic. Hopefully if we decide to buy a house down here one of then will be on the market and inniur price range! I LOVE old homes. Our house in Louisville is 100 years old and served as army barracks for WWII training!
Well my computer stopped searching so back to work. More later!

Wow!

Hi blog land I just realized I has been over a month without a post and for that I completly apologize! So here are the highlights and i promise details later (please forgive typos I'm doing this from my phone!)
--Adam is now in Georgia with me. He was told by his recruiter that his age waiver would probably be declined at this point for nuclear engineering so he has put all things Navy on undefinete hold and has started lookin for a career type job here. He might even go back to school. At any rate he missed me like crZy the two months we were apart and isn't sure about planning our lives around 6 month deployments. He is going to go back to waiting tables probably next week because we can't live on just my income if only the house would sell then we would be set!
--I love my job. But i'm going to have to remember that there are 30+ women in the building and for a large percentage this is their first real job. I had seen a lot of the silly drama but this week got to experience it first hand for the first time. God girls are stupid!
--Izzy caught fleas from my moms dog last weekend. $40 later we think they are gone but she is still scratching the bites poor thing! I'm hoping mom will send me a check for the $40 because this is kind of the worst time it could have happend.
So that's the highlights hope all of you are well and even though i havnt been commenting I have been reading your blogs i promise!

Prize Winners! and my 99th post...

--Since this is my 99th post that means my next post will be my 100th.  SOOOO I need all of you to ask me questions to answer so that I will have something semi interesting to talk about! :)

NOW--Without further ado the custom spa basket winner choosing by Izzy :)

Let me start by saying it is a bit more complex to get a 3 year old dog to pick a prize winner than I anticipated.  But here is how it went.  (Please pardon photo quality, these were all taken on my IPhone with very poor lighting!)

First I got together eight index cards and a pretty sharpie marker (because there were only eight entries) :)

Then I wrote each entrants name on one index card for each entry
Then I arranged them so there was equal chance of Izzy picking each one.

Then I set Izzy loose to choose a winner.  She didn't seem to interested at first...
Then she wanted to play...
So I tried to trick her by wadding the choices up in balls thinking she would play with one.

But Izzy said RARRRRR I don't want your silly paper balls!!!
SO I tried hiding her rawhide in the middle of the pile.
It worked!  She picked one of the things in the pile...
And the Winner is!!!!
The Rawhide bone.  But  I didn't think it was fair to put together a spa basket for the rawhide bone since it didn't even care to enter the drawing.

So I piled the entries up in a mound again.
Closed my eyes and picked a winner myself.
And I say the winner is

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  you can send me a direct message on Twitter (or respond to the one I will be sending you as soon as this posts!) and we can work out the details.

Oh and Izzy says congratulations too

But she still says the rawhide shes currently chewing on should have won.

Thanks to everyone else for playing along Bethany and Erica

PCS Updates

Wow I can't believe it's been almost 3 months! SO much has happened and I honestly feel like I've barely had a chance to breath...
